Golden Retriever

The Golden Retriever, a cheerful Scottish gundog of great beauty, is one of America’s most popular dog breeds. They are great at hunting and fieldwork, as guides for the blind, and in search-and-rescue, enjoy obedience and other competitive events, and have an endearing love of life. The Golden Retriever is a sturdy, muscular dog of medium size, a breed hallmark for its dense, flowing golden coat that gives the breed its name. Goldens have a broad head, friendly and focused eyes, short ears, and a straight muzzle. Golden Retrievers has a merry walk with a smooth, powerful gait, and the feathery tail is carried.

Golden Retrievers are generally healthy dogs, and responsible breeders will screen their breeding stock for health conditions such as elbow and hip dysplasia; eye conditions, and certain heart diseases. The Golden's ears should be checked weekly for signs of infection, dried after being exposed to water, ponds, or rain, and the teeth should be brushed often. Let's talk about that beautiful coat. Golden Retrievers heavily shed their thick, water-repellant double coat once or twice a year, and they also shed more moderately on a continuous basis. Most of the time, a good brushing-out with a slicker brush once or twice a week will remove much of the dead hair before it has a chance to fall onto the furniture. Brushing once a day is recommended during seasons of heavy shedding. Baths help to loosen the dead hairs. Wait until the dog is well dried before brushing. Otherwise, Goldens only need occasional baths to keep them clean. As with all breeds, the Golden's nails should be trimmed regularly.
Sporting breeds like Goldens need plenty of daily exercise. If your puppy does not get enough exercise he's likely to engage in undesirable behavior. Golden Retrievers make great companions on long runs and bike rides, although it is recommended to talk with your Vet before starting strenuous or high-impact activities that might cause stress to the dog's bones and joints. Many Goldens enjoy getting their exercise on hunting trips or at field trials. or playing fetch with the family.
Golden Retrievers are outgoing, loyal, and eager to make you happy, which makes them very easy to train. Of course, early socialization and puppy training classes are recommended as it is with most breeds. Slowly exposing your puppy to a wide variety of people, places, and situations between the ages of seven weeks and four months should help your puppy develop into a well-mannered adult dog. Puppy training classes will help socialize your puppy and help the owner learn to recognize and correct any bad habits that may be developing. Obedience training strengthens the bond between dog and owner.

What is the Super Dog Program?

super dog

All our puppies will complete Super Dog Training. Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) or Super Dog Program is a process developed by U.S. Military in their canine program that introduces mild stresses to very young puppies in a controlled way. These stresses help stimulate the neurological system which improves the growth and development of the pup’s immune system, cardiovascular system, and stress tolerance. This is a proven method that has helped puppies to reach their maximum potential in health and disposition. Please click on the link below for more information about Super dog stimulation and how we incorporate it into our program to make sure each one of our babies is getting the best start in life.
